<p>In today’s Fit Minute we’re talking about: <strong>Shopping for Supportive and Nutritious Foods at the Grocery Store</strong></p>
<p>Over 95% of the people who shop in grocery stores are choosing foods unconsciously and out of pure habit. Don’t fool yourself, if you buy it, you will eat it.</p>
<p><strong>The solution: </strong> Wake up! You don’t have the time or the luxury to shop unconsciously; you must learn what your body really needs and how to shop for it while in the grocery store isle. Let’s look at 4 simple steps you can implement that will help you shop for supportive, nutritious foods.</p>
<p><strong>1. </strong><strong>Take Inventory: </strong>Your environment supports your habits. If the food is in your house or in your possession, you’ll probably eat it. Remove all foods that are not conducive to supporting your fitness goals.</p>
<p><strong>2. </strong><strong>Make a List:</strong><strong> </strong>Remember grocery stores are businesses that are created to make money. They can be extremely tempting and are carefully designed to persuade you to buy things. Sometimes they cause you to buy things you don’t even want or need. Having a list and sticking to it helps you to stay on track.<strong></strong></p>
<p><strong>3. </strong><strong>Become a Food Label Detective:</strong> Learning how to read a product’s nutrition label empowers you to make healthy choices, when it comes to stocking your pantry. Don’t worry about remembering what everything means at once, you will learn more each time you shop.<strong></strong></p>
<p><strong>4. </strong><strong>Let’s Shop:</strong> Never shop for food on an empty stomach. Hunger increases temptation. It’s also best not to shop with small children, if at all possible.<strong></strong></p>
