Before You Give Up You Have to Give In
Weight loss is a struggle. I know, you’re saying, “Got that, tell me something I don’t know!” But seriously, it is a struggle to put yourself on a regimen of eating regular, healthy meals and committing to scheduled workouts. Sometimes it seems there aren’t enough hours in the day or days on the calendar to get it all done. So what do you do? I’m glad you asked…Give in to the process.
As the title of this article suggests, “Before You Give Up You Have to Give In,” it simply means that instead of throwing in the towel or turning it into a noose J, you have to give in.
Give in and Get on With it
Giving in means accepting the circumstances you are in instead of fighting against them. This isn’t giving up because when you give in, you actually open yourself up to the possibilities. When you give up all possibilities are closed, over, gone, in fact you can’t even see any possibilities because your mind is so clouded with thoughts and images of what you “can’t do.”
However, once you give in to the possibilities, whole worlds open up. Before, you knew there was no time for an aerobic class 3x a week, now you see that you can do 1 class once per week, then take a brisk walk with a friend or co-worker 2 days, plus get in 1 or 2 more aerobic sessions by following an online video. How neat is that?!
Giving In Means No More Wallerin’
Have you noticed that when you feel that you’ve given up, helplessness overcomes you? The world seems much smaller, as if it’s closing in and you feel there is nowhere to go and no one who can help. That’s wallerin’. It’s the old “poor is me” syndrome that causes absolutely nothing to get accomplished. However, when you give in, all of a sudden, the world seems so much bigger and brighter. You feel ready to pounce and take on any opportunity or situation. You don’t have time to “waller.” You’ve got things to do, weight to lose and new clothes to buy.
So what’s it gonna be? Giving up or Giving in? Your choice, but believe me better, slimmer days are ahead!
