General Mills Presents Benefits of Whole Grains
In 2008, the General Mills Bell Institute of Health concluded research suggesting that incorporating whole grain foods into a reduced calorie diet can result in lowering risk factors associated with metabolic syndrome and heart disease. In fact, a whole grain diet can lower the risk of heart disease as much as the use of statin drugs.
General Mills collaborated with three authorities on nutrition – Kathleen Zelman, MPH, RD; Dr. Penny Kris-Etherton; and Cynthia Harriman, Director of Food and Nutrition Strategies at Oldways/Whole Grains Council. These experts share their expertise on a variety of whole grains-related topics
